IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Friday the club had acquired midfielder Chris Hegardt on loan from Norwegian club Stabæk for the remainder of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Hegardt returns to the United States having joined Stabæk this February. The 22-year-old has recorded nine appearances for the club, notching 176 minutes of action.
A native of San Diego, he previously competed for Charlotte FC of Major League Soccer while also spending time on loan in USL League One with the Charlotte Independence in 2022 and the USL Championship with Loudoun United FC last year.
Hegardt made his USL Championship debut in 2019 with Tacoma Defiance while part of the Seattle Sounders Academy. He subsequently spent two seasons at the University of Georgetown before being signed by Charlotte FC prior to the club’s inaugural 2022 season.
