MONTEREY BAY’S ANTONY SIAHA ON PACE FOR SAVES RECORD
Monterey Bay F.C.’s Antony Siaha became the first goalkeeper this season to pass 100 saves in the USL Championship’s regular season, moving to 102 saves after recording six stops against Miami FC this past Saturday. It marks the 20th time in the Championship’s history that a goalkeeper has recorded at least 100 saves in a regular season campaign.

Siaha is currently averaging 4.1 saves/90 minutes, which places him on pace for 135 saves this season. Should that pace be sustained, Siaha would break the Championship’s single-season record of 130 saves held by former Phoenix Rising FC goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski in the 2015 season.

MIAMI FC’S FRANK LÓPEZ JOINS 50-GOAL CLUB

Miami FC’s Frank López became the 30th player to record 50 regular-season goals in the USL Championship as he provided the game-winning goal in the side’s 1-0 victory against Monterey Bay F.C. on Saturday night at Pitbull Stadium. The veteran reached the mark in his 160th appearance in the league and was the first Cuban player to achieve the mark in the USL Championship era.

Twelve different countries are now represented among the league’s 50-goal scorers. The United States leads the way with 14 representatives, followed by Jamaica with four and Uruguay and Colombia with two apiece.

NORTH CAROLINA, LOUISVILLE CITY PLAY WILDEST GAME OF SEASON

Louisville City FC’s 6-4 victory against North Carolina FC this past Saturday was the eighth game in USL Championship regular season history in which the teams combined for at least 10 goals, and the first since the 2019 season. The game also marked the first in league history to include three own goals in the same contest.

LouCity has been involved in three of the eight games to reach double-digit goals in league history and has won all three contests. The side previously defeated the New York Red Bulls II 6-4 on August 10, 2018 and Sporting Kansas City II 8-3 on October 12, 2019. LouCity and the Red Bulls II are the only teams to have been involved in multiple regular season games that featured at least 10 goals.

North Carolina, meanwhile, became only the fifth team to record a pair of own goals in the same game in a USL Championship Regular Season contest, and the third team in the past three seasons to do so. The four-minute margin between the two own goals ranked second to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC against the Richmond Kickers in 2016, when the Hounds scored two own goals separated by three minutes.

30 USL CHAMPIONSHIP, LEAGUE ONE PLAYERS EARN INTERNATIONAL CALL-UPS

Thirty players from the USL Championship and League One have earned call-ups by 21 nations for the September FIFA international window. The players will be active in Concacaf Nations League, UEFA Nations League, and Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying.

There have now been more than 60 players called up for senior international duty in 2024 from the USL Championship, League One and League Two. It marks the third consecutive year the 60-player mark for senior international call-ups has been surpassed across the USL ecosystem.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC’s Patrick Hogan has been suspended for one game following his red card for serious foul play against Indy Eleven on August 31. Hogan will be unavailable for selection in Pittsburgh’s contest against Rhode Island FC on Saturday.

Memphis 901 FC’s Marlos Santos has been suspended for one game following his red card for abusive language against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on August 28. Santos will be unavailable for selection in Memphis’ contest against Hartford Athletic on September 11.
