LOUISVILLE CITY FC SETS SINGLE-SEASON HOME WINS RECORD
Louisville City FC set a USL Championship single season record as it earned its 14th home victory this regular season with a 3-0 victory against Miami FC last Wednesday night, surpassing the record of 13 wins that had previously been achieved eight times in the Championship’s history.

In doing so, LouCity also set a single-season record for goals scored in home contests in a regular season with its three-goal display moving the side to 52 goals in 15 home games this campaign. That surpassed the mark set by Phoenix Rising FC of 51 goals in the 2019 campaign. Louisville has two home games in its three remaining contests this season against the Tampa Bay Rowdies this Saturday and Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, October 26.

Additionally, Louisville City FC’s five goals over its two contests in Week 31 moved it into second place all time for the most goals scored in a USL Championship regular season, passing Reno 1868 FC’s 75 goals in the 2017 regular season. LouCity has recorded 79 goals in 31 games, and now trails only Phoenix Rising FC’s 89 goals in the 2019 season in the all-time list.

NICK MARKANICH CONTINUES TO RAISE SINGLE-SEASON SCORING RECORD

The Charleston Battery’s Nick Markanich recorded the 28th goal of the regular season on Saturday night in the Battery’s 2-2 draw against Detroit City FC, extending his mark for the most goals in a single season in Championship history. In doing so, Markanich also set a Battery single-season record for goals across all competitions, surpassing the mark of 27 goals set by Paul Conway in the 2001 season.

Markanich’s strike rate in league play now sits at a goal every 92.8 minutes, trailing only former Louisville City FC star Cameron Lancaster in the list of 20-goal scorers with the best strike rates in league history.

AUGUSTINE WILLIAMS BAGS THIRD CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE-DIGIT SEASON

Indy Eleven’s Augustine Williams became only the fifth player in the USL Championship’s history to record double-digit goals in three consecutive regular seasons this past Saturday as he notched a pair of goals in his side’s 2-2 draw against Louisville City FC.

Previously this season, the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ Cal Jennings became the first player to record four consecutive double-digit goalscoring seasons. Only one player in the list has accomplished the feat with one club, with Dane Kelly notching consecutive double-digit scoring seasons with the Charleston Battery between 2013-2015. Kelly is also the only player to have recorded three consecutive seasons with double-digit goals twice in his career.

Williams’ performance also saw him move into sole possession of fifth place in the USL Championship’s regular season scoring list with his two-goal performance against Louisville City FC this past Saturday. Williams has recorded 76 goals in 220 regular season games, with his five goals over the past two outings marking the first time in the USL Championship he has recorded multiple goals in consecutive games.

MIAMI FC SCORELESS STREAK REACHES SIX GAMES

Miami FC became the third club this season in the USL Championship to record a six-game scoreless streak, and the third in the 2024 season following Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Monterey Bay F.C., the latter of which brought its scoreless streak to an end at 557 minutes this past Friday in a 2-1 victory against Phoenix Rising FC.

Miami’s scoreless streak sits at 582 minutes, placing it currently as the fourth-longest scoreless streak in league history. The side will return to action on Saturday, October 19 away at Detroit City FC.

- Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC’s Bertin Jacquesson recorded the first hat trick of his professional career on Saturday night against Miami FC, marking the first hat trick for the Hounds since Albert Dikwa recorded three goals against Memphis 901 FC on March 18, 2023, and the seventh for the club in the USL Championship era.

- Louisville City FC’s 31 shots against Indy Eleven this past Saturday equaled the highest single-game total in the 2024 season, also achieved by the Tampa Bay Rowdies against Miami FC on August 24. - Miami FC set a single-season record for the most defeats in a USL Championship regular season with its 4-0 loss to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday night, recording its 27th loss of the season. The mark surpasses that of Antigua Barracuda FC, which lost 26 games in the 2013 season.

Rhode Island FC’s Noah Fuson will serve a one-game suspension following the denial of the club’s appeal of his second yellow card against San Antonio FC on September 28. Fuson will be unavailable for selection in Rhode Island’s contest against Loudoun United FC on Sunday.

Loudoun United FC’s Tommy McCabe has been suspended for one game following the review of an incident during Loudoun’s contest against Hartford Athletic on October 5 by the League Disciplinary Committee. Due to the timing of the review and decision, McCabe will be available for selection in Loudoun’s contest against Indy Eleven on Tuesday night, and unavailable for selection in Loudoun’s contest against Rhode Island FC on Sunday.

Detroit City FC’s Connor Rutz has been suspended for one game following his red card for Serious Foul Play against the Charleston Battery on October 5. Rutz will be unavailable for selection in Detroit’s contest against Indy Eleven on Saturday.
