DETROIT — Detroit City Football Club announced on Wednesday it had signed defender Devon Amoo-Mensah to a new two-year contract which will begin in the 2025 USL Championship season. The contract is pending league and federation approval.
Amoo-Mensah has become a mainstay on the Le Rouge backline alongside captain Stephen Carroll for the past three seasons, earning the club’s Black Arrow MVP Award following the 2023 season.
The 28-year-old joined DCFC ahead of the club’s jump to the USL Championship in 2022 after spending two seasons with the Michigan Stars. Since then, Amoo-Mensah has made 86 appearances for Le Rouge, recording six goals across all competitions.
In 79 appearances across the USL Championship regular season and playoffs, Amoo-Mensah has logged 6,941 minutes of action and recorded 81 tackles at a 71.7 percent success rate, 451 duels won at a 62.4 percent success rate as well as 253 clearances, 106 interceptions and 426 recoveries.
So far this season, Amoo-Mensah has played the full 90 minutes in every match except for the side’s contest against FC Tulsa in August, where he was brought on as a halftime substitute.
